After a successful launch last year, this marks the second National Cinema Day, highlighted by affordable prices and an enticing film roster to encourage participation.

According to Screen Daily, a survey by Fandango involving 2,000 moviegoers in the United States revealed that the event was designed to encourage participation through discounted prices and attractive film line-ups.

Jackie Brenneman, EVP and General Counsel of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), and President of the Cinema Foundation, said, “Following the spectacular success of the inaugural National Cinema Day, we welcome all to join us for another communal experience. America’s favorite pastime – watching movies.”

With an estimated 30,000 screens, more than 3,000 theaters across the entire United States are expected to participate in National Cinema Day 2023.

Last year, cinemas in the UK and other locations also offered discounts and other special programs to mark the occasion; for instance, IMAX and other PLF theaters brought back blockbusters like “Interstellar,” “The Dark Knight,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and more.
